Reverse Auction
AGO Logistics has developed a method by which the shipper is able to tender
loads to its predetermined group of carriers in a process referred to as a
"Reverse Closed Auction". Only carriers previously qualified and authorized to
see the shippers loads can participate in the process. Carriers respond as to
their equipment availability and have the option to spot-price loads at prices
below previously negotiated contract rates. The system can be configured to
allow a shipper's logistics personnel to select the carrier for each load based on
carrier responses or the system can be configured to automatically award the
load based on criteria established by the shipper. Carriers are also required to
confirm that they have been awarded a load. This system virtually eliminates
repetitive phone calls and faxes to Truckload carriers to determine equipment
availability and negotiate prices.
